GH4 Camera with screen masked for 2.39:1 aspect ratio.

Project Blog 1 – 2.39:1 Test

Hello!  Welcome to my first project blog post.  Today, I am testing out some 2.39:1 aspect ratio footage using a Panasonic Lumix GH4.  I have masked the screen to match approximately the right aspect ratio and am filming in 4k so that I don’t lose any crispness in the video on larger screens.  You can see the masking is messy here (see image above) but this was a test only, when doing this for real I will use a better masking to ensure accuracy.

I am hoping the short film I am going to make this spring will be shot in 2.39:1, to be shown in the Kino Film Festival in May.  The film (no spoilers) will be about love and loss, this footage is a quick test of the aspect ratio only, and does not represent the film — however, there probably will be a nervous hand-wringing scene which is why I took this shot.
